It seems that it is for the woman's sake (in order to help her) that the earth opens its mouth, otherwise that 'water' would cause the woman to be drowned.
We are told at Rev.12:13 "when the dragon saw that it was hurled down to the earth,"...
So, Do you think that such event: ''the serpent disgorging water like a river from its mouth after the woman" would have a future fulfillment? Satan must first be hurled down.
For me, in my ignorance, it seems that Rev 12:16 will have a future fulfillment and somehow "the earth" (no anointed ones) will help the anointed ones somehow...maybe standing for the truth with "its mouth" as well...in order to neutralize Satan's water (lies)?
Matthew 15: 11 "Not what enters into [his] mouth defiles a man; but it is what proceeds out of [his] mouth that defiles a man.”

The "earth" is not the "sea".
The boundary between them, is the "shore" or, the "sands of the sea" (Rev.13:1). Satan is able to breach the "earth", through the Wild Beast which comes from the sea, but comes up onto the earth.
The "sea" is made of spiritual Gentiles along with the deceptive powers that keep them blinded. This is good reasoning. But in harmony with the scriptural interpretation of the above...
the "earth" saves the woman, by being surrendered to Satan's power (they swallow and believe Satan's lies).... and replace the woman as Satan's victim (Isa.43:4).

In a sense, they become a ransom exchange in place of the woman/Covenant; so that instead of Satan drowning the woman, the earth is given up, instead (Luke 17:26,27). Regarding your citation of Matt.15:11; Jesus was teaching the Jews that physical statutes matter less than the spiritual lesson and application behind the symbolism of those physical statutes. He was speaking of literal material forbidden foods as not defiling a person's spirit.
However,
this "river" being disgorged from Satan's mouth is not literal and material. As the rest of Revelation's symbols, it has spiritual meaning and application. Taking Satan's misleading deceptions into ones self (as the "earth" does, at Rev.12:16), does corrupt. Scriptures which show this, are 2Cor. 11:3; Gen.3:1,3.
