Resurrection

I am still writing this post. Please return after it is edited.

Question I received:
"I was looking through your blog for answers on the order of resurrection in the new Kingdom. I could not find what I'm looking for. Can you explain when us on earth who die, when do they get resurrected. I have been dwelling on this the past few days and can't find the answer."

My reply:
First, you ask about when the resurrection takes place. The word resurrection means "stand again". This is not referring to a physical standing. Adam and Eve FELL into sin. They could no longer STAND before God as faithful when being examined for judgment.
As a result, no one born to Adam and Eve are born standing in judgment. We are all under sin and a fallen spiritual state... a spiritual death, ending in physical death.
The way out of this, to be able to "stand again" as Adam and Eve originally were before they sinned. We need a way to stand again, or to be resurrected. That standing again, or resurrection, would mean that we could be justified and forgiven for our birth under Adam, sin, and death. We could stand when being examined for judgment. 
Jesus is the resurrection and the life. When he becomes our new father, we stand again, because Jesus becomes our source of life instead of Adam. Our sins are then forgiven and the teaching of Jesus guides us into righteousness so that we no longer are practicing sin. When we learn righteousness, we stand again in judgment. We are resurrected.

Then you ask about when the resurrection happens.
I know that you mean a physical return to life, but the real, spiritual resurrection must happen while we are still physically alive, during this lifetime. Once we come to life by being born again by spirit, we are resurrected, as long as we remain standing once we have been resurrected. If we are spiritually resurrected in this way, even though we physically die, we have already been judged as standing and living to God.
Revelation chapter 20 does address the topic of timing of resurrection, but again, it is referring to a spiritual resurrection. Since God and Jesus both refer to the timing of resurrection as being the one that takes place spiritually (while we are yet alive physically), then this is the direction that we also must turn our perspective and attention to.

The new, spiritual creation is patterned after the original, physical creation. The way to spiritual life (resurrection) is patterned after the original way to physical life. That physical way to life was the breath of life being instilled into Adam. That physical life was maintained through eating fruit from the trees in the garden of Eden.
Please consider from the 4 Bible verses below, how life is sustained
within the new creation.
Gen.1:11,12; Rev.22:1,2; Luke 6:43,44,45; 8:11-12,13-14,15
Jesus provides the seed of the word of God (John 12:48-49; 1:14) as do those whom Jesus sends forth (John 20:21-22; Matt.10:20; Mal.2:7). That seed must be held on to and cultivated in the heart, and it's maturity is proven by the fruit / teaching that results. If it is from Christ, it will bear the same seed in it... the word of God.

There is more to learn from the original physical creation, about how one initially accesses spiritual resurrection.
We learn at Gen.2:7, that Adam came to life because God instilled within Adam, breath. That breath was God's spirit (John 20:21-22) and is the essence of life, without which we are dead (Gen.25:8; Luke 23:46). To stand again (to be resurrected), we need God's breath. We need His spirit.
Jesus told us where to get spirit. He said;
"The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life." (John 6:63).
Our resurrection and life (John 11:25) depend upon the teaching of Jesus. 
After his ascension into heaven, his words would be extended through his representatives, his bride members in covenant with him (2Cor.5:20-21; 4:5; Matt.28:20; Acts 1:8).
This is why Rev.22:17 depicts the bride as offering living water. 
She offers the opportunity to stand again in Christ. 
He and his teaching of divine truth are the source of the breath of life, God's spirit, by which we live, both now and forever.

So we are resurrected... living in God's eyes, standing in judgment, during our lifetime, if we are born again of spirit through Christ. That standing is given to those who are generated by the spirit of Jesus, meaning, they imitate his love. Jesus makes this decision and is merciful to those who have shown mercy (Matt.5:7). Then we belong to the New Creation (2Cor.5:17; Eph.4:22,23,24).

When God's Kingdom comes, then those who are dead, awaken from death. Those spiritually living in God's eyes, and those spiritually dead in His eyes, will be consigned to God's judgment, through Christ. This decision is based upon our lifetime deeds.
Those who found favor with God and are considered spiritually alive by Him (standing in His judgment - Eph.6:13) and bearing the seed and traits of their father Christ (Isa.9:6), will live and receive the kingdom.

Babylon the Great

What or who, is Babylon the Great?
Rev.17:5
"5 On her (the prostitute's) forehead was written a name, a mystery: Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and of the Abominations of the Earth."

- To have a name on your forehead, has meaning. It is the name of your master who you obey and serve (Rev.7:3; 14:1; 22:4; Deut.11:18). Those marked by God, serve and obey the will and purpose of God for them.

Clearly discerned by the scriptures above, Babylon the Great is a mother of the prostitute who has that mother's name on her forehead. The harlot is the daughter of Babylon the Great 
(Psalm 137:8; Zech.2:7). The harlots serve and obey the interests and purpose of their mother, rather than the interests of God.

Now, what does it mean to be a mother?
Of course, just as the name on the forehead must be interpreted by scripture, so do the mothers who are served and obeyed.
Mothers are where we come from, the spiritual matrix that spawns us, the spiritual city that we are citizens of.
Gal.4:26 reads;
"26 But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother."
--- The "virgins" in Revelation have Jerusalem above...
   (spiritual city: Rev.21:2,10; Eph.2:19; Phil.3:20; Matt.5:14) 
...as their source/mother (Lam.2:13; Rev.3:12) written on them.

--- The "harlots" in Revelation have Babylon the Great (spiritual city: Rev.18:10) as their source/mother, written on them (Rev.17:5). 
These two cities are also depicted as spiritual, prominent mountains 
(Rev.8:8; 18:21; Zech.4:7) (Rev.14:1; Matt.5:14).

Spiritual virgins are those who have no lie in their mouth (Rev.14:4-5). Their mother is free, because the virgins spring from a source of truth. As Jesus said, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free." (John 8:32). Divine truth means eternal spirit life (John 17:3; 6:63), which comes through a living mother (Rev.22:17).

As Paul said at 2Cor.11:3-4, 
"2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, because I have promised you in marriage to one husband—*to present a pure virgin to Christ.* 3 But I fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be seduced from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ."
-- There we see the danger, that "virgins" can lose their standard of truth and fidelity to it, by being seduced by the great deceiver. 
By leaving their Lord of truth, they can fall prey to demonic deception (Col.2:19; John 15:6)
(1Tim.4:1; Rev.16:13; Col.2:8; Luke 21:24; Rev.13:10,7; Dan.11:33). 
They are no longer found by Jesus to be spiritually pure and virginal regarding the spiritual faithfulness he requires to be in union with him (1Cor.6:17; John 15:4-5; Col.1:18; 2:19).

Truth is the source of life (John 14:6; 6:63;  2Tim.1:10). 
Deception creates death (Isa.59:10;  2Cor.4:3-4;  2Thess.2:10; John 8:44).

Is this what has happened to the "harlots" (1Cor.15:18)? 
What is the source of their being deceived and taken captive to deception (Col.2:8)?
How is this 
    connected to who the mother of the harlots is?

We read at Gal.4:26 that Jerusalem above is free (free of deception, sin, and death). 
But Gal.4:24 explains more clearly, what an allegorical "mother" actually is...
"24 These things are being taken figuratively, for the two women represent two covenants (divine promises)."
"28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise."

So, we have a heavenly woman/mother that is a covenant providing life, truth, and spiritual light.
Is there a mother covenant of death, deception, and darkness... whose name is Babylon the Great?

Isaiah 28 speaks to the harlots...
"15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we are in agreement. (Link: What is Sheol/Hades?)
When the overflowing scourge sweeps through (Rev.12:15;  2Pet.3:17),
It will not come to us,
For we have made lies our refuge,
And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.”
- 18 Your covenant with death will be annulled,
And your agreement with Sheol (abyss/Hades) will not stand;
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
Then you will be trampled down by it."

The mother covenant over the spiritual harlots, is a covenant of death, deception, and treachery. 
That mother covenant's name is Babylon the Great. Babylon the Great is the covenant that the harlots are branded by and serving. They deserted Jesus, the source of truth and life. But worse, they serve up falsehood (poisoned waters) to others (Rev.8:10-11; Rev.17:15; 14:8) instead of the living water offered by the virgins (Rev.22:17) in imitation of Jesus (John 4:10). 

The harlots teach their followers, false doctrine. They are blind guides who lead others into a pit (Sheol) (Prov.5:3-5).

We also see at Rev.17:5 that Babylon the Great is the mother covenant of the abominations of the earth (Rev.17:5).
Babylon the Great's offspring includes the abomination of desolation (Matt.24:15; Mark 13:14).

Christ's Presence

We know that the apostles did expect a return of Christ, after his ascension

As you can see from the foregoing scriptures; Jesus pointed to a return that would occur *after* the fall of Jerusalem in 70 CE, because Revelation was written after that, and the return he spoke of, contained features that did not occur in the first century.
In the mind of the apostles, the "end of the system" app lied to the Jewish system and covenant with God (Acts 1:6-7; Luke 19:11; John 16:12-13; Mark 9:12).

They were not wrong, because as Matthew chapter 24 begins, it is a continuation from the end of Matt.23, where the apostles are talking to Jesus about the fall of the Jewish Temple. But by Jesus response, we see from some details, that he was describing the pattern to expect, when both God's covenants are fulfilled, and end. At the conclusion of them, there will always be those who were faithful, and those who were not (and the interaction between those two groups).
They did not fully understand that there would also be an end/fulfillment to the New Covenant, because covenants are also called promises, and God eventually fulfills His promise. ("End of New Covenant")
Jesus not only answered the apostles question about the imminent end of the Old Covenant, but included the signs regarding the end of the New.
The sign of Jesus' presence has many components. But Jesus told us, not to expect the signs to be fulfilled in an obvious way (Luke 17:20).

The very term, "sign of your presence", means, that it will occur through signs and symbols, not seen in a physical way... but perceived and recognized by means of insight, discernment, and spirit of prophecy... leading to understanding for those who listen

So at the end of the New Covenant, the "sign of your presence" will occur in symbolic ways, made discernible through the spirit of Christ's angel/prophet, whom he would send to reveal his message.

-- But what did Jesus mean, by "presence"? The word means, "to be alongside", as in a yoke (Matt.11:28-30). There is much that could be said about what this means.... even about how the Wild Beast is said to be "alongside" those who are working with it, but do not recognize what actually is under the yoke of slavery, with them (Greek of Rev.17:8) (2Cor.6:14)... directing them in the demonic persecution of God's anointed.

Now to understand the connection between Jesus' presence, and the birth pangs (Great Tribulation and the Battle to result)....
There is much information to explain this. I am going to simplify it for the sake of this comment. But each point I make, should be researched and proven through the scriptures by an article on each subject. That first being understood, I will address that part of your question:...
1. Wormwood falls from heaven through a compromise of truth. When this false prophet chooses to teach lies, that is represented by opening Satan's abyss.
2. When Wormwood opens the abyss, Satan escapes his captivity, and the bonds previously imposed upon him by Christ, are loosed. Satan is then able, to mislead the body of Christ. They become captives of the abyss (Rev.13:7,10; Luke 21:24; Col.2:8), through trampling by its agents.

3. Christ is appointed as head of the body, and charged by God to protect it, feed it, and defend it, as a husband does his wife. He assured us, that "I have not lost a single one which the Father has given me"

Dan.12:1 describes it this way;
"At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered."

Here you can see the connection between the unprecedented "time of distress" (Great Tribulation), and the "standing up" of "Michael" (the presence of Christ) to rescue "the remaining ones of the woman's seed".

Can you see that "knowledge will increase", and "scrolls are opened"? This is the same event (Luke 24:45).

This increase of knowledge of the truth (opening scrolls, including Revelation)... is actually the cause of Armageddon. When God's priests gain the dawn through the standing up of Jesus to defend against Satan's river of lies... the faithful stand up to the deception, and in imitation of Jesus, defend the truths they are receiving (2Cor.10:3-4,5; Rev.20:7-8; 16:13-14,15-16; 17:14; 19:11,14,8; Jude 1:14; Matt.26:64; Heb.12:1).

Mark 9:11-12 reads;
"11 And they asked Jesus, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 12 He replied, “Elijah does indeed come first, and he restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected?"
When Jesus "returns" and is *again present with his priesthood* (sanctuary restored/priests working again under the high priest); those final priests must battle against wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places (Eph.6:10-11,12).

Naturally, this will not occur under pleasant circumstances... because Satan is unleashed, along with all his powerful hoards of both spirit and flesh. The result of this demonic attack, becomes manifest and discernible, by those able to recognize the "birth pangs" of the Great Tribulation, and the spiritual symbolism as the means by which, those signs are truly manifested among the anointed (Rev.12:2; John 16:19-20,21-22,23; Dan.9:24-25,26-27)
