The Destroyer and his Family

There are many cited scriptures to ponder. Please take this post in sections, so that they may be considered along with reading.


Dear Pearl,
I have a question about Isa 34:15,16,17. Some translation
depict an owl in verse 15 who is making her nest; there also are hawks/falcons
gathering. Is there a relationship to Luke 17:37 here? In vs 16 and 17 (Isa.34:16,17), it
appears to be the gathering of the Body of Christ, each place determined by
His Spirit. What do you think?

What you ask has so many references to many unfolding events in the time of the end. It is hard to set up a boundary, for what to discuss and what to leave for another time. I feel utterly incapable of explaining these things which I see. All truth is related to all other truth. Much of it is hard to explain (John16:12; Heb.5:11).
Prayer and effort will be needed on both our parts.
Many scriptures and subjects directly relate to your question. Some clusters of cited scriptures will delve into related thoughts, without my mentioning them in my own comments.
I know I must choose what I offer. If a question arises, please ask further.

All kinds of literal owls and hawks/falcons, were decreed by God as being "unclean" (Deut.14:12,13,14,15,16,17;  Lev.11:16,17,18; 20:25).
In order to grasp the place and identities being spoken about at Isa.34:15,16,17;
it helps to consider the context of those verses, the scriptural symbolism of the identities,
and the prophetic events which are referred to in related scriptures.

If you go back two verses in the context (Isa34:13) (where it also refers to these "owls"),
do you see that "HER" strongholds and citadels will be overrun with nettles and brambles (thorns and thistles) while SHE becomes a home and haunt for the jackals and owls? Those owls are the same as the owls just two verses later, at Isa.34:15.
Now please consider the relationship between Isa.34:13 and Rev.18:2...
"With a mighty voice he shouted:
‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’
    SHE has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
    a haunt for every unclean bird, (Lev.11:13,16; Isa.34:13; 13:21; Zeph.2:13,14,15)
    a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal."
These "unclean and detestable animals" and "birds" are not those of God's literal creation (Gen.1:21).
These are symbols of other life forms, which are unseen.

The "screech owl" is translated from a Hebrew word, that warrants a closer look:

The screech owl (night demon) is "nocturnal". Jesus spoke of the arrival of "night", and it's effect on his followers. 
(John12:35; 9:4 B; Dan.8:11,12,24; Rev.12:9; 11:2; 13:7). The "screech owl" is at home in that night of darkness.
The "screech-owl" seeks its food by night but hides by day.
It is known in the Bible for it's howling (Micah1:8; Ps.59:15; Pr.27:20), and for occupying the desolated places of Babylon (Isa.14:23; Jer.50:39; Zeph.2:14).
There are additional "monsters" ("jackals","wild goats","dragons", etc.) referred to in the scriptures 
(Isa.51:9; Job 40:15,18,24; 41:2,1,34; 3:8; Ps.74:14; Rev.13:2,4,5). 
Such creatures are spoken of as congregated together in a dark realm.
(Isa.13:21...(Matt.25:33,41)...Isa.13:22,19,20; 34:14; Rev.18:2; 2Pet.2:4; Jude1:6).
Examining each of the original Hebrew names for them, is educational.
    They are described symbolically as creatures we are familiar with. By using such symbolism, the Bible helps us to grasp some of the nature and characteristics of unseen spirit creatures (Gen.3:1,14).

Consider another one of the Bible's "monsters":
(Job 7:12; Jer.5:22; Isa.57:20; Prov.8:29; Rev.20:1,2,3; Luke10:19,20) Although God set a division between it's realm of the wicked sea (sons of night 1Thess.5:7; Luke11:34,35; 1John1:6; John12:35), and Christ's Congregation ("earth" (Isa.66:1; Ps.132:7; 1Cor.3:16) / sons of day 1Thess.5:4,5,6; 1Pet.2:9; Rev.2:28; John8:12); "Wormwood" used her key to "open"/"unlock", the abyss/"sea" (Rev.8:10,11; 9:1,2,3; Job 3:8; Rev.20:7,8; 13:1; 12:15; Isa.43:2; Ps.66:12) (Rev.10:2,5,6) so that it flooded over, and mixed with the "earth" (Dan.2:43,42; Matt.13:30).
There are many prophetic parables, pointing to the same circumstances.

When Jonah refused to obey God's will (Jonah1:1,2,3,12,17), he was swallowed by a sea monster. A good translation of Matt.12:40, records Jesus as stating;
"for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." (NASB) (Heb.2:14; Col.2:15)
Jonah chapter 2 is prophetic. See the connection between Jonah2:10 and Jer.51:34 and the "king of Babylon" 
(Isa.14:4,22,23; Rev.9:11; Isa.33:1).

Once Satan is released, he sets off to mislead the remaining Elect, through his agents/messengers/angels.
Rev.16:13; 12:17,15,7; 13:1,4,11,15; 9:3; 1Tim.4:1; etc...

If we run from God's will for us, the serpent is able to "swallow" us (1Pet.5:8; Prov.1:12)
[The "false prophet" = "wormwood" (Rev8:10,11; Eze.34:18,19; Rev.9:1; 13:11; 19:20) who is muddying the 'waters' (mixing "earth" and "sea" -- "Teach the Distinction!") for Satan (Jer.46:8; Rev.11:8; Eze.32:2,7,21,23; Rev.19:15)]. 
By setting up a Gentile priesthood (Eze.44:6,8; Mark13:14; Matt.24:15....
           [which "priesthood"/Beast, is controlled by 
            "Wormwood"/false prophet/Harlot
              (Rev.17:3,15,12,18; 18:7)]
....and giving it an "image" of divinity (Rev.13:15,8; 19:20); 
....the false prophet beclouds the genuine identity of God's Temple, and strips it of influence...
"The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed." (Dan.12:7)

Though we may naturally think of any motherly depiction as intrinsically good (Isa.34:15),
but remember Rev.17:5...
"The name written on her forehead was a mystery: Babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth."
    "Babylon the Great" is also a mother. Her womb is the abyss, and all those belonging to her are under her magic spell leading to death. She also "hatches" her spawn (Rev.9:1,2,3; 13:11,15,7; Mark 13:14).
What is meant, when Isa.34:15 describes the "owl" as nesting eggs?
Evil identities also "hatch offspring", by designing, creating, planning, and acquiring.
(Ps.7:14; Jer.17:11; 22:13; 5:27; Isa.10:14).
Luke 12:19,20,21; Matt.6:19,20; Job 27:8; 1Tim.6:17; Prov.10:2;
Despite their grand plans, desolation will return upon the heads of the unfaithful 
(Job 4:8; Ps.7:14,15,16; 57:6; 28:4; Isa.28:18,19; Ob.1:15; Rev.18:20,6; Jer.16:18; Rev.2:20).

These have forgotten their first love of God (Rev.2:4; 1John2:15; Rom.1:25). They are blind to the futility of pursuing the rewards of this world. They are blind to their spiritual reality (Rev.3:17,18), which is spiritual desolation. Soon they will be forced to swallow the reality and results of their sins (Isa.34:11; Zeph.2:13,14,15; Rev.16:12; Jer.50:38,39,40; Isa.44:27; Ps.102:6).
These are the things depicted within the context of the verses of your query.
Rev.14:11; Isa.34:10,11,12,13,14,15; Rev.18:2,14,23)

Once God through Christ and his faithful, crush the heads of "Leviathan" (Ps.74:13,14; Gen.3:15; Rom.16:20) 
[by providing us the truth of our testimony (Matt.10:20; Rev.12:9,10,11)
then his completed mistress "Babylon the Great", (the then-sealed harlot daughters of the Covenant of Death), will be spiritually banished to the dark desolated places 
(Matt.22:13; 25:30,11,12,13; Isa.34:4; Matt.24:29; Zeph.1:15; Amos5:20; Joel2:2; Rev.9:2,3) awaiting their destruction 
(Jude1:6; Matt.25:41; Rev.20:10). 
This retribution is justice, as a repayment for sending Christ's brothers into death-like desolation, by means of the abomination which she empowered (Rev.17:5; Mark13:14; 2Chron.13:9; 2Thess.2:4; Dan.8:11; Luke21:24; Rev.13:10,7; 11:2; Ps.74:3,7,8; Rev.2:10; Rev.13:15; 11:7; John16:2) (Rev.18:6; 2Thess.1:6). 
    Once banished herself to desolation, she will never be rebuilt (Jer.51:29; 50:39). She will be brought down and sent to the land of the jackals, wild beasts, screech owls, and other spiritual monsters...
in the depths of the dark abyss of death, forever [Isa.14:9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21...(Rev.2:23)...Isa.14:22,23,24; 
Eze.32:19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29; 31:18; Rev.19:15]
(Rev.18:8; Isa.47:9; Jer.50:31; Luke21:22).

If we respond with humility and repentance, to the wrath of God upon His people, there is hope
(Eze.34:12; Ps.74:19,20,21; Isa.63:4; Rev.18:4; Dan.9:24; Zech.13:9; Mal.3:3; Job 23:10; 1Pet.4:1; Heb.12:11; 1Cor.3:13; John3:21; Matt.16:27; 1Cor.4:5; 1Pet.1:7)

All of God's people are overcome by Satan's final machination during the final hour of test 
(John12:35; 9:4; Dan.8:12; Rev.13:7; Matt.25:5; Rev.3:2; 1Tim.4:1; Rev.16:13-14). 

They succumbed to a false sense of security 
(Luke8:13; Job 39:13,14,15; Luke8:5,12; Matt.5:13; Rev.11:2; 1Thess.5:3). 
God must rescue and redeem those captive within Babylon the Great 
(Isa.59:4,5; Deut.32:32,33; Jer.51:7; Rev.14:8; Matt.24:21,22; Ps.94:17). 
He is not far off for those who return to Him 
(Luke11:11,12,13; Jer.4:1; Zech.1:3; Isa.44:22; 48:20; Luke4:18; Matt.24:14).

All these previous considerations may help to clarify, why the Man of Lawlessness is also termed the Son of "Destruction" (2Thess.2:3; Rev.9:11).
It also clarifies who the destroyer is (Isa.33:1) and what he aims to do to his followers (Isa.14:20; John10:10; 8:44), under his wife-like covenant of death (Isa.28:15). 
God's justice, abandons the unfaithful, to him (Matt.23:38,37,33; Luke19:41,43,44). God allows the destruction of the unfaithful who had been graced with His spirit and favor (Rev.2:21,22,23; Heb.6:4,5,6,8; John15:6).

It would be good to read the entire chapter of Isa.34 to get the whole context.
Perhaps when you notice all it's parallels to Revelation, and the fall of "Babylon", you will recognize who the wild animals and unclean birds really are.

Does this relate to Luke17:37?
The Greek word for the birds in Luke17:37 is the same word as
Rev.12:14. It is not the same type of bird, written in Isa.34:15. According to Rev.12:6, her wings take her to a place to be fed, for "1,260 days". 
The two witnesses (Rev.11:3) nurture the woman with eagle's wings. The woman covenant is being fed by the two witnesses, who are "slain" (Rev.11:7; Job 39:27,30; Luke17:37).
Luke 17:37, literally reads (according to the Greek interlinear):
"And they answered and said
unto him, Where, Lord? And
he said unto them,
Wheresoever the body [is],
thither will the eagles be
gathered together."
("Eagle" or "Vulture"?)
Matt.24:28 clarifies, that the "body" is a corpse. The word can also be plural, for those who were slain (Job 39:27,30; Rom.6:5; 2Cor.4:10; Mark8:35; Rev.11:7; 6:9,11).

Those capable of "seeing" the slain "two witnesses", also come to recognize, that they ascend into the clouds (Rev.11:11,12).
This is a joining with the faithful witnesses of heaven (Matt.26:64; Jude1:14; Heb.12:1; 1Thess.3:13; Matt.25:31). Their work is shown up for what it is (1Cor.3:13,14; 4:5; Matt.16:27; 2Thess.1:7,10), and their reward becomes evident due to it's substance (John7:18; 16:13,14,15; 14:17; Rev.1:7; Luke21:27,28) and what befalls them in fulfillment of prophecy (Rev.1:1; 10:7; 22:6,12).

I will bring in a past question of yours, which relates to my reply to you. It is Zech.5:8,9,10,11.
Can you see that the mother 'covenant of death' has a place prepared for her?
It is the desolated realm of the hearts of the dead, where all her demonic creatures dwell (Rev.18:2; Isa.34:15). 
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." (Matt.23:27,28)
This is what her realm looks like when one is in the spirit. Yet under Satan's guise, it appears as the opposite in the physical realm. (2Cor.11:13,14,15; Isa.5:20).
Just as the mother covenant of life finds a prepared home (Rev.12:6) in the hearts of the living Temple members (Rev.11:3; 14:4,5; Heb.8:10), along with God and Christ (John14:23), and their spirit (Eze.36:27; Rom.8:11), where Christ is King of kings (Rev.1:5; 5:10; John18:36; 15:19); too does the mother covenant of death find her own abode among her Harlot daughters (Zech.5:11; Luke11:24,25,26; Isa.28:15; Prov.5:3,4,5; 7:26,27; Rev.17:5; Ps.137:8; Zech.2:7; Rev.18:4; 1Cor.6:15; Rev.17:2; John3:20; Job 24:15,16,17)...a home for the spirits of demons, symbolized by the unclean birds (Rev.18:2; Isa.34:13).
   Be astonished. "Her place" (Zech.5:11) is where she sits upon the Wild Beast (Rev.17:3; 13:1,4), and all the waters controlled by it (Rev.17:1,15; 13:16,17,18; 2:13)
...and we know where Satan has this throne, today!

I have touched upon what I thought to be the necessary things, in order to provide a grasp of what the scriptures tell about Isa.34:14,15. I hope I have included enough, but not too much as to make it overwhelming. This is always a challenge for me. Please let me know if you need clarification.
I am thinking the coverage I gave verses 14 &15 may be enough to provide an answer for you.
But you ask about verses 16 and 17 also.
Without too detailed an analysis;
perhaps the scriptures I insert will suffice:

"16 Look in the scroll (Isa.30:1,5,8,9) of the Lord and read:
None of these will be missing,(Isa.40:26; Jude1:13; 2Pet.3:7)
    not one will lack her mate (Jer.2:23,24,25; Eze.16:29).
For it is his mouth (Isa.1:20) that has given the order,(Matt.23:36; 24:34,35)
    and his Spirit will gather them together (Rev.19:17; Eze.39:17).
17 He allots their portions; (Rev.19:18; Isa.17:14; Jer.13:25)
    his hand distributes them by measure 
    (Deut.32:35; Rev.18:6; Jer.25:28,29; Eze.39:4; Jer.34:18,20).
They will possess it forever (Rev.14:11; 19:2,3)
    and dwell there from generation to generation.
    (Isa.24:20,21,22; 34:10,11,12,13; Zeph.2:14,15)"

For every event prophesied about the faithful, there is a corresponding event among the unfaithful.
Satan has attempted to emulate every detail, within his fabricated counterfeit. Christ has used prophetic symbolism, which applies to the unfolding events of both sides. Knowing this, aids us while interpreting.
